Unit/base Command Transfer Question

Will units and bases have their parent commands change during the game? That is would a division assigned to Australia Command ever be changed by the computer to SW Pac (assuming NO computer controlled zones turned on)?

Same question for bases - I could have sworn I saw a base change flags.

I dont believe so. Reinforcing LCU's that were available for non-restricted operations will come in already assigned to a non-restricted HQ (such as a reinforcing Aussie division coming onto the map assigned to "Southwest Pacific")

And to clarify slightly. A LCU or airplane cannot move to a base unless it is in its command structure? And ships have no such restrictions? I believe the answer is yes for both.

I haven't had any problems transferring RAAF airgroups from Singapore area via hopping back to Oz so I am unsure about the plane thing

Both wrong. And for strike 3? [:D]

Darn. So you can move LCU's to other bases outside its command but they will just suffer performance penalties? Same for ships too?

Restricted Commands are a different story and I think I can getting them mixed up.

The *restriction* prevents the move out of the area. It does not do anything else.

Also, the restriction refers to air and sea transport only. Right now I have restricted Kwangtung units in china as they can march the entire way there.

to summarize

Restricted HQ's only prevent units attached to them from either transfering (air) to a base not attached to that HQ, or an LCU from boarding a transport.

units from other HQ's are free to travel too/transfer to bases belonging to a restricted HQ (example: 19th BG attached to SW Pacific xfers to ABDA commanded base in Java)

There is no penalty to a unit that bases at a base belonging to an HQ that is different from the parent HQ of the unit.

I believe restricted units cannot even BOARD an air transport no matter what the destination.

I think the penalty is that you dont gain any of the benefits of it's HQ anymore.

Unless you move the HQ as well [:D]

thats correct. There's been alot of confusion generated over the boarding issue. People need to realize its a "simplified" fix. It would have been massively complicated to try to come up with a way to allow units to load onto transports but ONLY go to valid base destinations.

Instead, this simpler fix was implemented....any unit attached to a restricted HQ cannot load onto a ship or plane.....period. [:)]
