Are the medals related to how badly mauled you are when completing the mission?

I seem to never get any when doing good but when I get shot to hell and back but make it home I get medals. Seems the system wants you to do poorly to get rewards. [:'(]

Each medal has different qualifying requirements. Some require you to destroy a certain number of the enemy without getting killed yourself. Some can only be earned during a dynamic campaign, and some require you to have earned a lesser award first. Many of them have a "lottery" component such that having completed a mission that meets the basic criteria, you still only have a 1-in-3 chance of being awarded a medal for your performance.

So it's somewhat the luck of the draw.

Ok, so going out and destroying 2 DD + 2 FF + 3 entire minefields on the first mission of Highlands is not good enough to get me a medal? I just don't get it.

It gets you a 1 in 3 chance. [8|]

Does the 1 in 3 chance also apply to campaign medals?
