Was this programmmed in or something??? Even though i have all my fighters on sweep to Manila which they do but they also escort my bombers at other places. In other words there are always fighters with my bombers even when I dont order them to be. Is this a bug or is it programmed this way???

Just because the fighters show up in the animation because they happen to be in the hex conducting a sweep mission does not mean they are escorting your bombers.

You can have a sweep go to the same target as your unescorted bombers.

set your fighters to "escort" and select you the base they are at as the target. they will not escort your bombers.

no no. im talking about hexes all over the place. i expect them to be in the hex i conduct a sweep mission in but they are in other hexes too....

Ive seen the same thing myself, have all fighters assigned fully to other jobs yet a naval attack flight somehow manges to take 35 fighters along as escort. It hasnt caused any major problems for me so far but I do expect my orders to be carried out damit If Id wanted them to have escorts I would have assigned them some.

Along this same lines -

I have Kates on Naval attack at a base where I put the other Bombers to bomb singapores airfield. The kates always tag along and get shot up. Had to move them to a different base.

100% sweep or ground attack always

One thing that strikes me as odd is the fact that I can set a group to do long range CAP at 100%, but if I drop it down to 90% it switches to sweep. Why in the world would it do that? I'm talking about the toggles switching from one category to another. In this instance, is sweep and LRC the same thing? I wonder what would happen if I then targeted a city, would it switch back to LRC? If that's the case, it seems pretty dumb to have to set the protected area and 'then' reset the percentage all over again. Maybe if you don't pick a hex when it's 100% it will be waiting on that and subsequently want to stick you with sweep on the home AF. It is pretty screwy though that it wouldn't switch to sweep on 100% then. Any ideas?

Im also seeing some problems with the assigned CAP value. I may be just not undertanding it but on quite a few occaisions Ive set my CV fighters on 80% CAP because I know there will be a few incoming bettys, and the only naval targets are a few APs trying to get away so the bombers dont need the escort. Yet when the turn comes around I end up with only 5 fighters interecepting on CAP and the majority still go on escort with the bombers ...is the CAP setting just not working? Doesnt setting the CAP to 80 mean most fighters should stay?
