What can I say but simply very impressed. I bought HTTR via the web on Sunday and here I am sloping off from work on Tuesday playing![&o]

First reactions after playing the tutorials and first scenario.

Lots of fun. The highlight for me has been the UI. It was very daunting at first but quickly became second nature. (the sign of a good UI) Trounced the axis in the tutorials (thankfully) but soon reversed on the first scenario. I got my timings completely wrong! Second attempt saw a marginal victory. This leads to to a couple of questions I have concerning AI and victory conditions.

1. In the tutorials I had one VL secured by two units an Anti tank and arty unit. In excess of 150 men. A mauled enemy mechanised inf unit (40 men) approaches the VL and I lose that objective. Is that reasonable ? The enemy unit withdrew (good ai )and and I regained the VL. On their own they werent really a threat why did I lose the VL temporaily?[:@]

2. Playing advance from Loenen on the second attempt I was trouncing the axis. Then a VL is snatched by an armoured unit coming out of nowhere and closing on one of my secondry VL which was secured by arty and HQ. It all happened in the last 30 mins and left little time to react to. Does the ai know the time limit and will there be a "rush" to threaten VLs in the closing minutes?[&:]
How is the possesion of the VL calculated ? It was highly unlikely that the axis had sufficient resources to dislodge my garrison units.

My apologies if these question are addressed elsewhere
Now back to the next scenario....

Shocks!

IIRC, the VLs are denied to either side as long as one does not have a 10 to 1 ratio in forces inside the VL zone (the circle which appears when you click on a VL).

Hope this helps.

Regards.

As far as I know, I don't believe that the AI takes into the consideration the duration of the scenario or the time remaining. Of course, I always do when I construct my plans. :)
