What OS are you running it under?

I have it playing on an XP system myself. No over all difficulty.

Hmm, any chance this is the video card's fault?

Any chance of fiddling with the emulation option and altering the environment?

Driver issue?

Installed anything unusual lately?

Ive disabled antialiasing and it works but some text shows some pink distort.

What are your opinions on 3d assault? Is it worth a purchase. Also can I change the resolution somehow? One last thing are the infantry animations always a transport?

Thanks.

I heard the first one Panzer General 3d Allied Assault was NOT liked. I don't have it, but it seems fans thought Scorched Earth was the only one worth getting.

Trouble is, a lot also thought the whole 3d nonsense ruined the game in general.

If you have SE up and running, I would suggest not fussing over Allied Assault.

But.... if you still want to chedk it out, you can try here.

Hmm I don't recall any of the PG series ever claiming a definitive term.

I would be inclined to call them a blend of tactical and locally operational games.

The game units best approximate PanzerBlitz in my estimation.

A tank unit is actually a group of tanks.

I am inclined to guess the units are platoons/companies or close to that. I don't think they exceed that at any rate.

I have Panzer General, Allied Assualt, Pacific General, Panzer General 2, Panzer General 3D Allied Assualt, and Panzer General Scorched Earth. And in none of the manuals (I bought them all new) does SSI ever reveal the scale of the units. I've read on the now de-funked Club SSI message board that they were anything from battalions to divisions, though I think gauging on the firing range of the armored units and that the artillery units are separate entities, that the units are regimental in size. HPS' Panzer Campaign have battalion sized units and their firing range is much greater.

Basically the Panzer General games are more abstract fun wargames than the more serious historically correct wargames games from HPS, Talonsoft or even the other lines of SSI games.

Panzer General 3D Allied Assualt is basically the same as Scorched Earth, though 3DAA only deals with the Western Front - N. Africa, Italy, France 40/44-45, Germany 45. There is a Patton Campaign though! [:D]

The biggest complaint from the loyal players of PG2 on the PG3 games was that the PG3 games had no PBEM feature.

Not entirely a bad decision Wodin.

The game is entirely warfare lite :)

Amusing, but hardly the cup of tea of everyone. I have not yet ever been able to take it very seriously myself.
