Launching Fighters

What parameters would be required to have the player-controlled craft from a given squadron be launched from a flight deck of a carrier.
Ie. What parameters within the elements of the carrier, flight, and squadron are required. I can't seem to get it right. The fighters always start off in space.

The element has to have a squadron on the carrier and alert must be highlighted.

Well, yes, of course.
However does the carrier have any elements that are required? Flight Ops as the role, but what as orders? Does the squadron require orders to Launch the element of the squadron? Does the element need orders to Launch? etc.

The carrier and squadron elements don't need any orders. All you need is an element for the squadron assigned to the carrier and the element that's actually being launched assigned to the squadron (but not assigned a carrier) with it's Alert and Player flags set.

Another couple of questions, though.
Are events purely scripted from locational assessment of the navigational points? That wouldn't be entirely elegant. I'm used to scripting missions with more tangible triggers. Perhaps I'm missing a great deal somewhere here in StarShatter. Are there any tutorials that are comprehensive on this subject for SS?
Also, are there any element limits from carriers. It seems after 16 fighters the mission just spits the rest out into space around the carrier.
