I have some questions on the best IJA land strategy in China during the first year. It's 12/7 for me, and I am scratching my head on the best moves to make. There are some quality units I would like to pull out of Manchuria, particularly 1st div. and the tanks, and also alot of troops not on bases; half-dozen Mongolian divs, a corps near Chungting, and a corps near Wuhan. Should I go on the defensive, pick out the best units, garrison Manchuria with the Mongolians, and dig in all over? Is there a vulnerable point I am missing that needs immediate reinforcement? If I do pull troops out, which ones should I go for first? Does it need more or less airpower?

I've seen in some postings comments on Chinese uprisings, how many troops do you need to guard against that, a brigade?

Every chinese base has a garrison amount needed.. Simply click on the base and it will be in the middle towards the top..

As for plans in china, the best ideas I've seen and I agree is to decide how important china is to your war effort - especially resources / oil... There are several chinese bases you can capture fairly easily that will produce 300+ resources per turn... Now not only do you get these resources for your industry, but you get free supplies for your army in china too... In my game I have selected certain bases in china and I will continue fighting til I have captured them.. Then I plan on digging in and waiting... These bases are important for 1 of 2 reasons... They have oil/resource that I want.. or they are strategically important - too close to Japan with a large airfield (Allies can base bombers here and pound my industry into dust) or they are on an important road or rail link...

I have been dividing many of the IJA divisions and leaving the minimum I need to guard the cities. Many cities have an overkill of IJA Assault points so I can have one divided division cover two cities for example and pull one whole division out to play elsewhere that way.

Any thoughts on strategy as the Allies? My main problems are (1) dredging up enough supply to do anything, and (2) finding base force units.

What can one do to improve the supply situation? Obviously one has to keep the Burma Road open. And I fly in bits of supply from Chungking (which has a decent stockpile) to forward bases. Other than that, there's no seaborne way to get supply in.

As for base forces, I guess there's not much one can do either than borrow from the pools of other nationalities, and I don't think I'm going to do that. The result is a rather static ground war in China in my game against the AI. But I read PBEM AARs and I see slugfests in China all over the place. Where are the Allies finding the supply?

Careful pulling too much out of Manchuria and Mongolia. Don't want to trigger the Soviets....

I pulled tons out of Manchuria and set all those left to accept replacements.. then accidentally went under 8000 for 3 days, while I frantically recalled units.. to my joy the ruskies where all too busy chasing the locals around to see my lapse.. ie no activation.. I then attacked HK and Chentsu? the big city in the middle? and after this formed two massive 2000 assualt point armies.. one north and one south .. they are slowly grinding away at the basis... soon all the chinese will be learning the code

and in Burma cut the burma road using imperial division and two smaller units.. after Rangoon fell... granted I do not expect this ez with a human

So which bases do you capture in China?

Starting in Dec41, for a reference.. Yanan(sp) at the northern area.. Changse(sp?) the big basin the middle with HI , hongKong.. Something above Canton starts with a W.. wuchoo or something.. then I march north from there and west from the nortn.. buth remember I bring tons of art and non assualt streng stuff from Manchuria as well as prob close to 1600 assualt points over the border.
and by Mid Feb am close to taking all of northern China .. and on to Kunming past Kweiling .. sorry about the spelling as I don't spell well and don't have game up now...
I don't move into non road/rail hexes, and I bar chinese from crossroads, remember to protect your supply lines or your troops will get slaughtered.
