Station Squadrons?

You can't fly ships from station, even though they're listed in the "Forces" menu?

You can transfer to the Janek Station in the Shining Fortress campaign and fly fighter mission from it, I just tried it. It's a space station BTW.

I just tried again and it seems I get an error unless I choose a 'Defend' mission. The error message is something like 'Player "Echo" is not in the Janek sector".

That's a bug in 4.0.0. The fighter mission generator did not know how to deal with ships tied to a planetary base. It's been fixed in 4.0.1, although the missions generated for a planetary base tend to be a little harder than I would have liked.
