SPMTB

As an avid player of SPWAW, and former avid-player of SPII, I'm curious about SPMTB: is it comparable in detail, graphics and interface to SPWAW and/or SPII? Does it support PBEM? Anywhere I can check some screenshots?

I'm currently running Windows 2000 (which does not support SPMTB, but is my default OS from work), but am considering switching to Windows XP just so I can play SPMTB, if it's as good as the other games.

Thoughts?

First off SPMBT actually IS Steel Panthers 2 Modern Battles.

It is just reworked fussed over modified evolved etc, but in the end it is the same game (after a fashion).

Second, as with every wargame, you might be part of the small percentage that has trouble runing it, or you might not be :)

I can run SPMBT on XP. It is not a perfect environment for it though (which is why I scrounged up an old system to use 98 SE on (less hassle fixing the mouse).
The mouse might be your only hassle, so you will not doubt find yourself here looking for advice.

If you liked SP II you already like SPMBT, its the same game. Amd it will basically look like early Steel Panthers as opposed to the much differing grapgically speaking SPWaW.

SPMBT works fine on my XP computer with no mouse trouble. But XP and DOS programs are so quirky that the same DoS program runs fine on some XP computers and won't even boot on others.
You might want to invest, if you have two computers, in a switch box. That will allow you to use the same mouse, keyboard, and Monitor with two computers and you can switch between them. You can also get a USB switch for USB devices.

If you don't want to get a second old computer I suggest partioning your harddrive with one of the kits available and setting up a second smaller partition that will run W 98. When your computer boots up, it will ask you which system...XP or 98 you wish to run.

As is with WAW, SPMBT is a great game and worth the download.

Play is just like old SP-II but there are tons more units, weapons, graphics, countries etc. that makes it great to play.

While you are on SPCAMMO's site, grab SP WWII as well. Playwise it doesnt match WAW but it does have alot of the odd ball units and more countries than WAW does so it is worth playing as well.
