Hey all, Just wondering if any of ya'll have gotten a persistent server to work?

Altmunster and I have been messing around with for about 30 min now and we both can connect and get into the game it just says observer on all the ships we attempt to command...

Any pointers? I couldn't find any information in the manual concerning this... but if I overlooked any info in haste I apologize in advance!

The server's not responding to my join request when I enter the game. I didn't have this problem when I tested with my own persistent server. Are you sure all the required ports are open?

Well altmunster and I are both joined just fine... But i just found out that it's not his server. But we can both launch into the flight environment... AKA i can even pilot the carrier around but can't launch pkgs or fire....

Altmunster claims he's used that server successfully as well....

i dont think it was the same server
rather, it was a dedicated server...this is the first persistent mode i have seen up.
we can enter the game in 'observer' mode, but that's it.

no option to host the game, only join...

You don't need to host games on a persistant server, the server just pauses the game in progress when nobody is playing.

ahh yes, i know this.
unfortunately the persistent server in question will not let anyone join in any capacity other than observer.

what mission is the server running?

If its a home made mission how many "playable" elemenets does it have? If it just has one player element plus rest AI and no playable elements then its a single player game. I guess the others can join as observers still even though there arnt any units for them to use.

Just my guess.
