Well, we've started the public PBEM's again - and I'm running the Soviet Union this time around.....didn't see postings from the German or Japanese turns, so I'll start this one off.

Intelligence Recap -

Germany - German forces crushed France in a lightning attack & also moved into
Denmark. There was no attack against Norway this time around.

Japan - Imperial Japanese troops moved into Indochina in force, while bombarding
Chinese positions from the air.

Soviet Union - Spring 1940

Now that the European war has started, we made some heavy investments into technology & armor (a full dozen tank corps are in production). We look forward to seeing how the new territories affect the course of the coming campaign.

I want to let everyone know that there will be a slight delay in the continuation/restart of this particular PBEM. Changes to the exe. are coming fast & furious as tweeks & fixes are made based on our expanding testing regimen.

See you all very, very soon....meanwhile, drool over the map above [:D]

Soviet Union - Spring 1940

War breaks out in Europe again. We will let the capitalists bleed a little while we continue to prepare for war. The map above hasn't changed.

I am WA/China in this game...

We invaded southern Iran in first turn (leaving the north Iran to our Soviet pseudo-Allies), and expelled Italians from Italian East Africa...

Other than that, we didn't do much...

Germans attacked one of our CVs in the North Sea, but managed only to damage it's airgroup. CV is recalled until the airgroup is rebuilt.

Germans also attacked Yugoslavia (predictable) - but failed! So now Yugoslavia is under WA control, defending with two brave infantry units aganist sea of Axis. Too bad we can't help those guys, as the Greece is still neutral, and Adriatic is controlled by Italian navy and Stuka dive bombers. No way to get our transports through (to reinforce Yugoslavia, or to evacuate two surviving Yugo units).

Had I expected them to survive like they did, maybe I would have started naval battle with the Italians in the Med in the first turn, but who could have predicted they'll survive the first attack?

In other developments, we completed the occupation of Persia, taking the northern part of the country as well...

Japanese are massing huge forces in Indochina, in obvious preparation for invasion of DEI. Chinese are just observing, unable to stop the Japs there.

decisions, decisions.

Germany FA 1940

Paullus is cranking out tank armies like crazy and his Soviet research is on maximum as well. I am going to have to invade the Soviet colossus sooner than later i believe.

the WA are still leaving me opportunites around the North sea so we launched anoter luftwaffe raid against a hvy fleet + ftr air + lt fleet and managed to send a lt fleet to the bottom and destroyed a fighter unit as well. i recieved 1 dmg ftr unit

damn!! yugoslavia is tough in this game-2x they have defied the Reich. i had to scrap up a reserve force to put those traitors down and pacify the balkans. precious supply has been consumed yet our forces are in place to take out Greece next turn.

Fortunately, we are experiencing happy times as our U-boats have managed to down or dmg 3 transports this turn :)

Soviet gains in research have forced us to do likewise. i spent 6 pts this turn in armor attack and defense and sub torps.

soon we will start preparation for the conflict in the East. i expect we will require some 50+ inf korp for this assault-will need to start cranking them out soon ........

Fall 1940 - Japanese turn

JA just keeps bombing China into the ground.

it's Fa40 lets look at the Force Pools and see if we can discover anything...

Hmmm, GE is going into the Atlantic, JA is hoarding supplies for something, SU is building twice as much armor as it needs to convince me we need to tweak SU production, WA are going to conduct and Air War somewhere (hopefully in Europe), and CH's Factories are full of damaged Infantry that got too close to JA Air power.

Yes, but 17 in production at the same time? Seems a little too high.

But that is an outsiders view.

Soviet Union - Fall 1940

The NKVD has noticed a rise in German deployments on our western borders. Tank production continues to move forward - if and when our German "allies" attempt an invasion, we should have some fairly nasty surprises waiting for them.

WA - I did my turn but really nothing worth mentioning happened.

Germans are harassing our naval units in North Sea but I am ready to take a beating if that means being secure against any Sea Linon attempt. Subs are a pain, as usual.

We completed the conquest/pacification of Middle East, taking Saudi Arabia, and whole of Persia. We also took Afghanistan, which has no resources, but we simply don't know how to stop [:D]

Same thing in China - Tibet, that hotbed of Nazi activity, just cried to be taken [:D][:D]

We are researching many things [:D]

Russia - Spring 1941

We expect the hammer to fall next turn....Stalin has ordered a full mobilization, although we know the first blows will hurt. With our tank armies ready to go, we hope to stabilize the front fairly quickly & buildup for a winter counteroffensive.

Western Allies here... Germany seems to be concentrating at their future war with Russia so I don't think we have much to fear in the next turns. Germans (and Italians) didn't even try to attack seriously in Med & North Africa, nor did they try Sea Lion.

Germany isn't looking to be very dangerous, except in one aspect, and that's subs. They got swarms of subs in Atlantic and managed to sever my ties with US (or UK) making the UK supply situation somewhat difficult, though by no means critical. We put more transport and destroyer fleets into production and are preparing to meet the sub threat on our terms. We also developed new ASW weapons (researched DD anti sub capability to 2).

I play China in this game as well - but not much I can do there except take a beating here and there from our Japanese friends... [:D] We'll see when our US friends come into play...
