Need some help here with WitP

Ok..since I have such lousy online dial up service now (on a good day 26 kps), I can't possibly download this monster of a game. So after waiting 10 business days for the CD, it finally shows up.
So I loaded it up..and half way thru loading I get a window that pops up that says "Unable to write File#4 Line 15" so I press the OK option and after the game finishes loading..I go to start the game and I get another error window stating "This program has a bad sector, try re-installing it". So I did that 3 times to no avail. I tried uninstalling it and the first 2 times failed..but the third time it uninstalled.
Something mighty fishy is going on. Any ideas anyone?

Hi Marc
I have Windows XP Pro and I went thru the normal installation procedure.
Another problem cropped up this morning. I found out that when the Uninstall finally worked..the desk top icons went away but a hidden folder containing all the art within a WitO folder was left in the system. I inadvertantly found it when I was doing a spyware scan and saw that file was still there. So I located it and moved it to the desktop..but then tried to manually remove it and it wouldn't let me. It was 460 mb or so big. I tried to change properties from read only..but it would change back to that as soon as the properties box was closed. I was able to remove the files inside the Art folder that was inside the WitP folder..but now I'm stuck with those two files on my desktop.

As it turns out, Byron13 had the same problem and found a way around it. I tried it and it also worked for me. I guess it's just the start-up icon that initially appears on the desktop that causes the problem. The one that's listed within the game menu works fine.

Hi guys,
I have exactly the same problem. Got the same message during downloading and when I run the program from the desktop shortcut or via the start menu or from the autoplay file in the \matrixgames\witp folder I get "Error, the program has been damaged, possibly by a bad sector of the hard drive or a virus, please reinstall it". I've tried reinstalling several times and have checked my drive for bad sectors. All to no avail. I'm running Windows XP Home on an Athlon 1.4Ghz with 512Mb. I can still run the program by manually double clicking the executable file in the \matrixgames\witp folder so it's not a major problem but I hope it doesn't indicate a future problem.
