This is driving me nuts! I am planning to send several Transport TFs to Malang, but shortly before it reaches the destination the TF redirects itself to San Francisco (repeatedly) This darn thing has a mind of its own.

Are you sure the redirect takes place before they reach port? If they have no cargo on board, San Francisco is their home port and you have Retirement Allowed, maybe they are reaching the port and then immediately turning around and going "home" since they have no task assigned for Malang? Just an idea. Try setting their home port to Malang or setting them to Patrol/Do Not Retire, see what that does.

Your problem stems from the fact that Malang has no port to unload in 4/0 it is currently an air field only location. (This may be changed)

I am running into this kind of issue as well. My transports are going to a location (so they are all empty right now) and after each turn they switch from patrol, no retreat to allowed to retreat each turn. This has happened with DEI transports, British transports mostly AK's and TK's. This issue has also arisen with a Surface Combat TF containing a couple or crusiers and destroyers from Sydney Austrailia. My work around has been to set the home base location to my destination, so if they switch again to allowed to retreat they just end up going to the their destination anyway.

Are there any problems with range for these units? (red in the upper left of the TF box?) I seem to recall that if TFs cannot make it to their destination due to fuel concerns then they return to their home port.
