Historic Japanese first turn question

This has probably been asked a long time ago, but I can't find an answer.
Does the game allow you to edit the starting position for the Japanese forces? For instance, instead of raiding PH on turn one, could you place the carrier task forces in a position to knock out the British Fleet in the Indian Sea? Thanks.

Would you really want to leave the Pacific Fleet intact?

this has been discussed before, my point was that why would you want to attack the british shipping first?, afterall america is THE big threat, is it not? and you'd want to damage the pacific fleet to give the player (as japan) some time

I posed that scenario as an example, just to see if it were possible to try. The original Japanese battle plan was to lure the American Pacific Fleet into Japanese waters and that might be fun to try as well as other possible scenarios. SO... is it possible to do this?

Well the first thing that comes to my mind, is to start the grand campaign with the Allied ai a couple of times, and by not attacking PH, see where the ai sends its fleet when it starts taking islands. That way you can see what the pattern and route the ai takes into taking back islands. You can then choose a spot to defend or make a stand.

I think my point was lost. Is it possible to edit the map positions of the Japanese air/sea/ and land forces at all, prior to beginning turn one? Thanks for the responses!

Yep use the scenario and database editor that comes with the game. There is also a editor manual you can read.

Genda, no need to use the editor as the first non historical turn option lets you strike with your carriers from Singapore to PH
