I have played the fifth training mission of Operation Live Fire several times and the Arliss has never showed up. Am I doing something wrong? As far I can tell, I am following the instruction list correctly. I select the two fighters for assault and select the Arliss as the target but the Arliss never shows up and the Package button never enables.

Look around for a drive flare or navlights, point your ship in that direction, and launch a probe (f6). Once a vessel is detected you can launch packages at it.

At the start of the mission the Arliss is in a different sector. It will usually jump into the one you are in after about 10-15 minutes, or so I have noticed (played through a couple of times.)

It will not show up on your scanners until you have ID'd it. Best way to find it is to F3, then zoom all the way out, and swing round, eventually you will see a tiny red glow somewhere on the grid. Point yout carrier at it and launch a probe. Once the probe has identified it you can launch the package.

Please update to 4.0.1, as the new version makes it easier to find the Arliss without having to thoroughly search the entire sector.

Hey Erik, don't tell me you're playing Starshatter when you should be working on Battlefields! [:D]

You can also send out recon flights and order your escorts around the sector to increase sensor coverage.

In fact I sent one of the escort DD's to the sector it starts in, ordered it to move to the other side and a few minutes later the mission ended whilst I was waiting for it to quantum in.

Apparently the DD drove right through the poor freighter

Actually the DD will fire on the Freighter. If you wait in your starting position and launch the fighters when it comes into range, you will actually see the DD start firing. It actually destroyed the freigher every time until I ordered it to move away.
