I attacked my own sunk DD

I'm playing the US against the Japanese AI. I haven't installed any of the interim patches, though I have renamed sound files so that I can hear sound, sort of. Anyway, on Feb 23 1942 the IJN sank my DD Stewart at Batavia. The next day I launched this night air attack:

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 02/24/42

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Night Air attack on TF at 20,59

Allied aircraft
Blenheim IF x 6

No Allied losses

Japanese Ships
AK Singapore Maru, Bomb hits 1, on fire, heavy damage

Allied Ships
DD Stewart, on fire, heavy damage

Japanese ground losses:
5 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Aircraft Attacking:
2 x Blenheim IF bombing at 2000 feet
4 x Blenheim IF bombing at 2000 feet

--------------------------------------------

I actually remember getting a similar error in UV. Unfortunately, I don't have the save from just before I ran this turn, at least I don't think I do. After I ran the turn, I saved the game and the combatreport.txt, and it may be that I'll see the problem again if I run another turn, in which case I will have a savegame to submit.

I have attacked my own sub with night attacks several times. I have all patches installed. So far it has only happened when my sub has been in the same hex as an enemy task force.

What I want to know: if my planes are so good at finding my own subs how come they can't seem to find the allied subs? [;)]

I think you guys are getting "bleedover" combat reports from previous battles or turns. I have asked Frag to check on this as there are a lot of comments about combat reports being screwy

Yeah, I suspect it's just a bleedover. I mean, the DD is clearly sunk. It's not on the map, and it's on the sunk ship list.

To make things worse, it sank needlessly, thanks to my rank incompetence. :)

Frag also tells me there is a code problem that will be fixed in a patch to keep this from occuring.

As an artilleryman myself, there is no "friendly" fire! It is all dangerous!
