Patch question - Hold command

Hi all
Thanks for the patch. I've only tried it out for 1,5 hours or so, so far everything is cool. Two comments:
1/ Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems there's an added feature in the command menu when you right click a vessel, the 'hold' command. First I thought it was meant as a quick way to make vessels stop (could definetely use something like that), but it seems it makes them 'hold their fire'. How does it work, won't vessels return fire if attacked when given this command, and when is it appropriate to use it ?
2/ A fair number of fighters still crash into the sides of the docking ports on the carrier... is this intentional (human error) or just not completely fixed yet ?
Addendum: how does the 'move patrol' command work ? When I order vessels to 'move patrol' somewhere, they go there, but don't stop, just continue straight ahead, which is a bit annoying when fx. I'm attempting to rearrange the destroyer coverage around the carrier group.
