engine flare placement/Noob bible

PROBLEMO #1
Anyone know how to change where the engine blast shows up? I'm still experimenting, but I can't seem to find which stat in the ship txt file changes this. I also can't tell how which numbers are what axis in the .mag file. (0, 0, 0) Is it (x,y,z)? Yes you can see my noobism from here, please help me, Noobs Anonymous isn't helping.

PROBLEMO #2
Also, it would be incredibly helpful if there was a COMPLETE 'bible' that gave a brief sentence or three on what does what in the ship txt file. Such as -

bridge: (0, 132, 22)
Vector location of bridge camera (F1 View) in model coordinates. The coords are based off of the ship magic file, in x, y, x axis accordingly.

A COMPLETE definition listing would do wonders for noobs, like me, since although I know what alot does, there's still plenty I can't seem to crack to complete a ship. I'm almost there, but finishing things up, like engine flare position and weapons hardpoint placement, I still haven't figured out and could use some help with. Anyone written one, or is there one posted somewhere that's more in depth than the one on Starshatter.com? SS.com's mod section is fairly extensive, heck they even tell me landing gear placement, but I still can't lick engine drives, for example.

Any help would be appreciated.

FYI, Destroyer Studios, thank you for making a game I can put a 3D file into in under 5 minutes. Amazing. If someone like me can get a spaceship appearing in this engine this quick anyone can.

THANK YOU!

Official Mod SDK
http://www.starshatter.com/modsdk.htm
^This should have most of what you're looking for.

Good parameter explanations
http://araney.250free.com
^Official Mod SDK combined with this ought to be enough to get you started. Popups tho.

Advanced parameters
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/Mehrunes/ ... dding.html
^More advanced stuff.

Some parts of the DEF file use XZY and others use XYZ. Here's a section from the info/faq section of the 250free site:
You can determine the location of subsystems and camera views by using Magic.

Load your ship model into Magic
Each window shows two of the three coordinate planes
Top-Left = x,y
Bottom-Left = y,z
Bottom-Right = x,z
As you move your cursor through one of these windows, the present coordinates are displayed on the status bar.
Find the location you are looking for on your ship and record the coordinates by using at least two of the windows.
If you are setting the location of either the bridge: or chase: parameters, you can put in the coordinates just as you have them.
If you are setting the location of a subsystem:, port:, muzzle:, or any other parameter requiring a vector location, you must switch the y and the z coordinates.

Buuuuuuut, it doesn't tell me where engine flare placement is. It's pretty complete, I mean I'm almost there just from that section of the site. The engine flare is one of the few, but important, visual placement thingies I can't quite seem to find. I've hunted all over starshatter.com for it. Any cluez? No matter what I change, my nice giant robot has this mysterious flame coming out of it's butt. Can't move it, can't change it's color, and can't make it bigger, smaller, etc no matter what stat I change.

[EDIT] thanks for the xyz explanation, I needed that. WIll check those links too!

Cockpit and chase camera placements are in use XZY format and the rest is in and XYZ format.

Its freekin annoying and the knowledge of the fact that all placements arnt consistent in coordinate format is a pain.

*aims the meatball gun at milo* ;)
