Gentlemen;
Just a quick question. Is "War In Russia: The Matrix Edition" the same as "Second Front: Germany Turns East"? If not is it similar?

I loved "Second Front: Germany Turns East" and spent many an hour planning out moves. Ofter thought of converting it for Windows, but don't really have the know how. Then I found this site! What a shrine!

SSI brought out War in Russia and it was essentially an upgrade to Second Front: Germany Turns East although it was a separate game.

I always thought the Second Front title was misleading as in the West it has long been associated with the Allied landings on the coast of Europe especially Normandy.

Hi, same designer slightly upgraded from 2nd Front. in Second Front (its been a long time since I played it) Corps could stack not in WIR
(I think the hex sizes are smaller which accounts for this) 2nd Front in turn was an outgrowth/upgrade of a much earlier (Commodore64 era) game by the same designer called interestly enough 'War in Russia' So I think he used the 'Second Front' title to avoid confusion with his earlier work. The Second Front of course was from a German point of view (they already had one-quiet at the moment- front in the West)

Gentlemen;

Many thanks for the replies. I think I'll download this title. Now to find someone to play against.

Hi, just hang out down in the 'War in Russia' forum and I'm sure you will find plenty of opponents. Good luck and have fun. Have you ever played 'West Front'? 1992 same designer as WIR and Pac War (Gary 'the Great' Grigsby)

Currently I am fiddling around with WF trying to modify it to France 1940 and 1914.

Pop into the WIR forum here on Matrix and you will find many people to play a game or two with!
