Well I have started a new Scenario and it s going well. It is now Mid Jan. 1942. I have lost Hong Kong, most of Malaya, but still hold Singapore,a nd am looking pretty good for holding out. I left teh air contingent in Sing untill the invasion started and boy they really hurt the JP transport fleet. I still Hold Palembang, as well as all of Sumatra and Java. I have lost Kuching and Brunei but Kuching has been a death trap for JP merchants. I have a strong air force at Salawing (SP). Kendari is stil holding with a good divison of Infantry, a CD unit and some PT's as well as 2 CA's several DD's and two subs to oppose any invasion. I did lose Mendado however. I still control Wake, and Midway. Pago-Pago and Suva are building up. My Subs are causing lots of troble in teh deep portion of teh China sea, and off of Osaka. I have cut teh supply lines in china from VietNam to the rest of China. THe AVG has moved to Chungking and has stopped all Air Attacks on that city. India, well India may be in trouble. I have lost Tavoy, and Rangoon is being attacked. The JP force there is only 40K so not terribley strong. We will see if we can continue to bleed the Japanese. there is a CVL group sitting off of Kendari right ow, so an Invasion force is probably on the way.

Enemy forces have forced a landing at Singapore and now are attempting to assault the city. Estimates are that 50,000 Infantry along with supporting units are preparing for the assault. The 30,000 defenders of Singapore have built up the defensive works and are doing final gun sightings in preparation for an all out attack. High command ahs ordered the last Fighter Aircraft (4 squadrons of Buffalos) to Palembang. Good Luck to the Defenders of Singapore.
Advance forces at Lunga, Guadalcanal Island, were caught by a Japanese Battleship force and were badly mauled. The Engineers have landed but most of there supply was lost. The three transports were sunk. The follow on forces (SWPAC HQ, IRAN ENG.) have been diverted to Gilli-Gilli. Attempts to Fast Transport Supplies to Lunga are being arranged, but will not occur for a week minimum.
Consolidations of forces in San Francisco are proceeding. Loading of Transports also continues and the SWPAC will finally get something to defend with. Both Pt. Moresby and Gilli-Gilli are going to receive 1 RCT, an AV Rgt, an ART Bn. and AA/CD units.
Submarine recon of Tarawa and the rest of the Gilberts indicate that the Japanese have left these islands weakly defended. Kwajelain however, has a significant air cadre and is in a position to threaten the supply lines to NZ and Australia. A small recon group aboard the SS Cuttlefish is enroute to Tarawa to determine enemy force disposition. In L.A. The 2nd Marine Paras are preparing for an assault on Tarawa if enemy forces are weak enough. They will be supported by the 4 CV’s Yorktown, Saratoga, Enterprise and Hornet. The follow on units will include a CD unit, AA, and a Naval base force (90 AV support). Plans are to drop off two Marine F4F-4 Squadrons and a SBD unit. First Priority will be to increase AF size to allow offensive missions to neighboring islands.
Baker Island is to become a forward Seaplane base. An AVD is enroute to support a squadron of PBY’s. Noumea Atoll is also to be a forward Seaplane facility. A detachment of AV engineers is enroute as well as an AV to support a squadron of PB2Y seaplanes. This will allow the approaches to Suva and Pago-Pago to be covered.
DEI is holding; the CVL group that attacked Kendari has vanished. No sightings from any search aircraft, and no more attacks. Plans for evacuation of Dutch Troops from Sumatra and Java are proceeding in the event the islands are un-defendable. Timor and Bali are being re-enforced with Aviation units to facilitate the evacuation of Aircraft. Timor is building its defenses and is being planned as a shield for North Australia.
Air attacks on Port Moresby have increased. Several cargo vessels have been damaged and better CAP is being sought. Not much in theater to move, but it is being organized.
India, well it is holding out but I am setting up a defense or Karachi and Bombay. If the Japanese get strung out to the eastern coast of India, the Large Chinese formations along the Burma border are in position to counter attack and cut off the forward elements of the Japanese advance at about Tavoy.
China is holding and consolidating. The Japanese are going to be in for a rough fight if they try to move from their present locations. Long range plans are to augment the Chinese forces with Allied Armor in early 1943.
Sub Ops are continuing against the Japanese Home Islands and exports in DEI. Possible invasion routes to DEI are also being watched by submarines and a sub mine laying plan is being discussed to mine approaches to DEI as well as ports.
Further information to be included in 1-21-42 AAR.

Week of 1-31-42
Scout planes have been established on Baker Island and Noumea Atoll. Recon flights from Baker Island over the past week have shown that NO enemy forces are currently on Tarawa. Tarawa Task Force is currently loading in L.A. Special Landing force aboard the USS Cuttlefish is within one day of Tarawa and plan to make landfall on the next suitable date.
Supplies in the PH, Midway, and Wake Island areas are running lower than projected. New Supply ships have arrived and are being arranged in convoys to increase supply stockpiles.
SWPAC re-enforcements are continuing embarkation and should begin the Interim Journey to Pago-Pago/Suva within the week. Final destination is still planned for Port Moresby and Gili-Gili.
Lunga base is functional, with a lone AP is sitting off of Lunga, and Command is now contemplating if it should remove the Engineering unit, or HQ. Now that the JP BB group is not actively attacking the landing, it appears that it may be a viable base. Command is awaiting the evaluation from the Engineers on the island for feasibility.
Singapore has fallen. Large elements of the defending force are now in position to counter attack up the lightly defended Maylain coast. Extraction for these troops is not going to be possible. The plan is for them to conduct guerilla attacks and seize Japanese supplies for as long as possible. They currently have a full days lead on the pursuing forces.
Chinese National forces are preparing to attack a port facility at Pakhoi. Defending forces are stronger than initial estimates indicated. Re-enforcements are being dispatched from Naning. Bombardment attacks are continuing.
Rangoon is under siege by a very large JP force and a Landing is now occurring at the port. Rangoon will fall soon. Akyab has been fortified and is preparing to be the next defense point.
Intelligence reports over 1 million troops in mainland Japan.
DEI in danger. Large Carrier force sighted south of DAVO Island. Cruiser Marble Head suffered a Torpedo strike and the Boise/Marblehead TF is proceeding to Sorebaja. The Narrows southeast of Tarakan is mined and there are subs covering both sides of the shallows. Expect invasion force to land at Balipapkan or Tarakan within the week.
ML's from Darwin are headed to Sydney (nearest level 10 port) to re-arm and begin mining or shallow approaches to Northern Australia. DM's (gamble class) from Pearl Harbor are convoying to Pago-Pago/Suva to begin mine operations at forward outposts, before proceeding to Sydney to join other ML's in mining Northern territory approaches.
S class Submarines from San Diego are transiting to Brisbane to begin operations in Coral Sea. Several Tambor Submarines are transiting to Darwin to supplement and replace badly damaged Dutch boats. Several Dutch boats are greater than 15 System Damage, and several others around 10. The level 10 subs may be used for sub mine laying in the Coral sea or Sub transport to evac some trapped forces in DEI.
