Resources from where to Japan?

It seems simple enough where to draw the oil resources from, since they come from so few places, and from places that don't need them internally. The exception would be China whose oil production should be just left to the interior to be shipped to the HI in China itself.

But where are you guys drawing resources from?

China, Indochina, Burma, and Malaya are all connected by road right now in my game. Rangoon and Singapore are mine. I have much of the SRA already in February 1942. The tankers have been heading to Japan, and to a lesser extent, Hong Kong, Singapore, Manila, and Tainan. (I think that is all the oil hungry ports)

The above places also need resources. But I'm guessing that Hong Kong, Singapore, and Manila can pull enough resources internally to get buy without shipping. Does this mean you were to draw your needed resources for the homelands from the DEI? Where do you grab most of your resources (using Aks) from to bring back home?

I ship 80% of my captured resources and oil to Japan.

Every now and then I will dump a couple of tankers and cargo ships into Hong Kong,
Saigon, Singapore, Port Arthur to keep them built up with a cushion (depends on playing style).

Hong Kong, Saigon and Singapore are my supply points for the regions so I try and keep them
with a hefty cushion of 10,000 of each.

If you get lucky and capture most of the oil/Res production centers intact (less than 10% damaged) you
will see just how fast they produce. I have trouble hauling and unloading fast enough. I have wondered if
you could dump the oil/Res in say Manila as a drop off point. Keeps my ships from making that long run back
to the home islands. i have not noticed any spoilage of oil/res yet.

But where do you take them from

Can you just take it from a centralized port in each of the DEI? Or from each port?

I guess I'm saying I still don't comprehend overland supply distribution.

I ship resources/oil direct from Palembang, Tobali, Brunei, Balikapan. I have captured Batvia, but I restarted that game before I captured the other big port Seorb something. Kendari, Ambonia, Sarong, Balli (on the same island as Ambonia)
I ship to Palau from there to Japan. The small ports above Palembang that have oil/res will flow to Palembang. Miri will move to Brunei for shipment. It take some getting used to I will admit. It takes awhile for the oil/res to build up on the smaller bases. So I collect it maybe once every 15 days. The big producers Palembang, Kendari, Tobali you will at times find yourself hard pressed to move it fast enough.

At Palembang, Tobali, Kendari, Balikapan, Brunei I max out the port size as fast as possible for faster loading. Ship in as many engineers as you can afford to speed it up. It makes a huge difference. It seems that the oil/res connected by road/trail etc flows to the biggest port. Of course that seems to be what I have found.

I was wondering where the longshoreman came from, unless you mean that use the engineers to get the ports to size quickly.

Sorry, yes to speed up construction. Just wish they could speed up repairs to oil/res damage.

Yes, I'm seeing this already with Brunei. The thing is the distance involved in shipping to the home islands. You need to form a string smaller TK TF's and space them out almost every three days or so rather than on big one every two weeks or so. Otherwise, a lot of oil builds up being useless for days on end. I haven't got it optimized, yet, but it's flowing better than it was. Can't wait to take Palembang. That may be a bit of a bigger challenge to optimize.

Yes, I have cut and pasted a good deal of that thread into a Word Doc. My aircraft production bible now as the Japanese player.

If you take Palembang undamaged it is a mother to ship it all. Especially if you have not captured Singapore or Batvia.
If you have taken neither, I would let it stockpile up and concentrate on building the port. But definatly move in some good fighter units for protection.
