It looks like a bug in the GE OOB. [&:]

The PzIvf2(s) was only issued in limited numbers, so their availability is for 1942 only. The PzIVg's are now available thru the end of 1943.

Besides, who would want a PzIVf2(s) when you can have a IVg anyway.

I played a large PBEM battle with one platoon of f2(s)s and one of the IVgs. Turn after turn, the f2(s)s were consistently terrible in comparison to the IVgs. It may have been a statistical anomoly that they performed so differently, but for being roughly the same cost, I doubt I'd ever use the f2(s) again.

You can buy Pz-IVG's in 1943? [&:] I just double-checked it. Are you using v8.2?

And as for Pz-IVF2, I was told that there were 30 Pz-IVF2's in Afrika Korps in late 1942. So I and my friend wanted to create a situation of early 1943 with the rare type.

IVh doesn't become available until April 43.

So from Jan 1943 thru March 1943 you can't buy a IV with any 75mm except the L24 shorty. I remember seeing somewhere that this was going to be addreaaed via a patch.

Guys, don't forget that you can adjust the end date for the PzIVg yourself, using the OOB Editor. It is German unit 29. Don't forget to save it after changing the date.

The whole thing is a difficult issue.

The IV F2 was built from March 42 until July 42.
The IV G (7,5cm KwK L/43) was built from May 42 until March 43.
The IV G (7,5cm KwK L/48) was built from March 43 until June 43.
The IV H was built from April 43 until July 44.

Those dates are according to "Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War II".

As you can see the end date of the F2 and the starting date of the early G are overlapping. My guess is, since production was changed from the 7,5cm KwK L/24 to the 7,5cm KwK L/43 during the IV F production, there was a delay and that it took until July 42 to finish the F hulls with the new gun.

As for a difference in performance between the F2 and early G, there should be none. Not before the late G was introduced in March 43.

Another thing:
I'm not sure if my OOB backup is still untouched, so please could someone look up unit #147 PzKpfw-IVg+ in the German OOB? Mine has listet the 7.5cm KwK40 L43 as main gun, while it should be 7.5cm Kwk40 L48. If the error is in my OOB's, please forget it.

Los, so does mine and I KNOW it's untouched.

So that's a further error, since the late G (unit #147, PzKpfw-IVg+) should have the 7.5 cm KwK L/48 (weapon #047).
