Q 1 Is Wau really a port if so where do ships approach from?(( this is the Allied base Northwest of PM???
Q 2 More importantly what types of gound units provide Aviation support for Air ops? I noticed that after alot of Jap air raids on Cairns my air base is left with no aviation support can you help ( I make the mistake of letting Jap. build up an air base at Gili Gili and they hit my Cairns airfield and port hard)

1. Wau cannot really be a port as it is land locked

2. Aviation Support is provided by Base Forces (a form of ENG unit) and certain types of HQ unit.

Hope this helps

Wau is not a port but can be built up to a 4 size airbase. You will have to either hold Lae, Port Morsby or run supply to Wau via air transport from another base (Buna perhaps). If you hold a base connected by trail or road then supplies will flow to your land locked bases depending on the type of road-trail, the distance in hexes, and the supply situation at the connecting port. You will also have to fly in all your base suport and land units. Marching units there is possible but just kills them off. It is a malaria zone and eats up units pretty harshly.

Historically, Wau was a tiny little base and airstrip that proved to be a thorn in the Japanese side. They tried but never sucessfully were able to eradicate it. The base was supplied and supported almost entirely by air. Don't expect much supply to reach Wau by trail in even the best of conditions.
