FCLS Manual- for starships

I'm not sure if this is a bug or intentional, but I sure found it useful. If you're commanding a starship directly and want to emulate the FCLS Manual mode that fighters have, go to the engineering screen and turn off your thrusters. You can still turn, but all course corrections will now depend on the main drive.

This lets you for example turn tail and run, then flip your ship and return fire with the forward mounted armament- while still running away.

I believe it's intentional. In fact, one of my favorite tactics is to come below and slightly to the left or right of an enemy cap ship, then turn on manual mode (by the way, pressing 'M' twice brings you to manual, no need to go to engineering). You can then keep the bow pointed at the enemy and fire away. By staying below him, his PDBs are less effective, and by staying to the sides you can avoid taking damage from the blast when he dies [8D]

Pressing M twice in a cap ship just takes you back to Helm Online mode..

M should toggle through the 3 possible setting, Manual, Auto or Helm.

Manual is what you want for them skids and naughty side flybys.

I'm only getting the Manual mode when I'm flying a fighter.
