Transport/Cargo missions

I played Pacific War to death. One of my favorite games of all time. I have only begun playing WitP.
There was a nifty little concept in there for transport TFs. If you chose a transport mission, your ships would head for their target and would stray into enemy zones of control. If you chose a cargo mission, they would do the same type of mission, but would avoid enemy ZOCs. This was a nifty little setting that was crucial to keep TFs heading from San Diego to Noumea or Espirito Santu (staging areas) from heading through japanese bases/airfield in the Marshall, Gilbert, Santa Cruz, or (heaven forfend) Line Island groups.
Is that concept lost? Or is there a different way to toggle that?
