Headquarters, once again

Post by fbastos »

Greetings,

Thank you all for the excellent posts I've read here - I've learned a lot out of them. Perhaps you all would extend your goodwill and consider the questions below? I appreciate even guesses to them:

(a) One Ground Unit in range of two Corps HQ; which one affects it? (example: run the 17th Group Army and 33rd Group Army to Changsha to defend it; now you go two Generals running the place);

(b) One Ground Unit in range of two Command HQ; which one affects it? (example: Chiang Kai-Chek and Mao Tse-Tung)

(c) Similarly, I would like to make sure that my War Area HQs are in charge of the fighting as the command HQ, rather than the incompetent Chiang Kai-Chek. Will they take charge as command HQ if they overlap Chiang's HQ? My tests were inconclusive with that.

Thank you all.

Uh-ha! Uh-ha!

Nothing like some careful reading on the editor's manual:

"Command and Corps HQ’s impact ground combat (on defense the nearest of either type will apply, on attack, both the nearest command and corps HQ can help out)."

Seems clear that if there are multiple command and corps HQs, the nearest ones will be used. If on defense, just one HQ will help, of either type. If on attack, then up to two HQs, one corps and one command, will help.

NOW I know I don't have to kill Chiang Kai-Cash on a banzai charge in fear that he would mess up the front line. In fact, there are so many War Area HQs around that they will handle everything, while Chiang just sips tea on Chungking.

Hmmm... also means that I have to get the War Area HQs out of the way of Nanning if I ever want Stilwell to gloriously march and conquer it... :)

Hmmm... probably also means that there is no point of stacking command and corps HQs on the chinese cities, as only one will help on defense... Might risk that the game would choose one with a weak general.

Regards all!

fbastos,

You have really good questions and material, you might want to try posting these same questions in the main forum board, and then taking the link(s) and posting them in one thread on this board called "fbastos tips" or something. That way you can have all your material in one thread, and also have more people look and give advice/tips/opinion on your questions. Keep up the good work and good luck.

Oh, didn't think I could post on the main board. Thought it was restricted...

Many thanks for the tip!
