Add speech to this wonderful piece of software and you'll get the most enjoyable sim I've played for years.
Its my Flacon 4 of space sim.
Would it be possible at all to add speech as an addon or mod? That would be so awesome to have radio coms and a real "betty"...
Anyone? Milo?

Voice, as in hearing ships acknowledging orders and such?
Not totally possible atm, but sound files (could be voice, music, sound effects) can be played when triggered in custom missions by events.
I dont know how possible full voice is with the SS engine...milo had basically said, iirc, that the process of recording the voice and fine tuning the system wasnt worth it for an indie dev like him. It would also balloon the amount of HD space needed and make it take that much longer to d/l.

most people have big HD these days, and fast internet connections. i don't really see those as good excuses for it not being included. good excuses are not wanting to do it, or not having the resources. [:)]

I posted something along these lines earlier, although if time, space and effort are major considerations, then just putting the hooks into the code for voice files would be enough. Then the rest of us could record our own voices and exchange them. I had a MSFS program that allowed for that with ATC.

What Mad Gonzo said. There is already a trigger to print the stuff on the screen. We don't have to (or want to) go hog wild with the vectors and distances and whatnot. A simple, "roger that, command, attacking target" with some static would add SO much to the immersion factor. If just the hooks could be added it would be great fun making the sounds!
