Long Campaign Under 8.2

I fought the long campaign beginning in September 1939 and ending in April 1945.

I took the Germans and started with 2250 purchase points and played against the computer giving them 3000 purchase points. I'm not sure how this affected the campaign but my thought was that I would get 2250 points per scenario and the enemy would get 3000.

My final campaign score was 112.

I took each battle that came up without signing out and signing back in to get another battle type. I never changed one single battle to get more favorable terrain or more favorable victory hexes, etc. I just took everything as it came. I left the game difficulty on medium the entire time.

I fought 43 battles which breaks down as followw:
36 battles were decisive victories for the Germans.
4 battles were marginal victories for the Germans.
3 battles were draws.

The battles that were draws began with victory hexes behind enemy lines that added up to, in some cases, 300 to 400 points a turn for the enemy. That's pretty tough to overcome in an "assault" mission where the enemy perimeter might be heavily mined. In a couple of those cases I felt lucky I got a draw because of the very favorable start for the enemy.

I finished the game with more than 9000 unspent purchase points.

I can see now that the handicap needs to be increased for the computer AI.

I have no way to know if this is a "good" outcome, an "average" outcome, a "poor" outcome, etc. I welcome your comments.

I also welcome your comments on how to get a more balanced game from the AI. I mean, it's fun to crush the computer up to a point, but, in the long run, a little more of a challenge is better in my view.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

You can increase the AI advantage through the course of the Campaign, this this gives them more experience. Also trying playing with a counrty that is weak, I play the long campaign as the Italian's and slowly unpgrade and integrate Germans into the force. anyway that's my .02

One other thing insted of the long Campaign try the Campaign generator you can swith the coutries you are fighning agaisnt at will then[;)]

Thanks for the info. Ya, I'll probably try another campaign of sorts after a short break. I have some of the other Matrix games that I play in between. I might play Uncommon Valor for a bit. Or one of the mega-campaigns. I'm waiting for another patch or two before I get WitP. It seems like I always come back to SPWaW. Great game. I've played some H2H, but it's hard with my schedule. So I mostly play against the computer.

I appreciate your comments.

I'll play around for a bit. I might tweak the campaign generator a bit to see if I can get some more balance.

Again, thanks for your comments.
