Atmospheric Combat

Any chance the next patch well clean up combat in an atmosphere? I've lawn-darted on autopilot, emptied my cannons into SAM batteries with no effect and launched barrages of AGMs at targets with no effect. Right now, if my carrier gets stationed near a enemy starbase, I transfer.
