Does ver. 5 require more PC resources?

Matrix Guys,
Is it my imagination or is my PC bogging down now that I've upgraded to ver 5.01? Movement is slower, shots stutter across the screen, shot resolution is delayed. This same 333 MHz Win ME PC ran ver 4.5 OK.
Is there an option I failed to reset in the prefs screen? I have:
fast arty on
terrain & unit sound & soundtrack off
no other apps (except some tray items)

Hi Tommy
Yes it does use more resources that v4.5 did. If you increase your swap file in windows you should be fine.

Dave,
That seems to have done it. My PC was set to "let windows control the swap file" and I changed it to a fixed 400 MB (twice my RAM).
Funny that win ME would be getting it wrong in the auto mode.
Thanks
Tommy

So 5.0 is much more demanding than 4.5?
In my PC (300 celeron @ 375, 64mb) it runs better than 4.5 ever did. No more memory hogging or VCR-buffer problems....
I have only 450mb free swap file left. Still no problems here. No sudden increase of swap file or any other "anomalies".
I heard someone needed more than 500mb swap file...ouch!
So from my point of view, 5.0 has better code than ever...Mostly

Dave,
I think I will retract my confirmation; relative to the swap file fixing it. P. Falcon's suspicions seem right. Last night, I checked the other PC that I play on (266 WIN ME) and it was letting Windows manage the swap file. It runs just fine!!
My guess is it was the reboot (required after altering the swap file config) that actually cleared the problem. My PC must have been partially hosed by some other, earlier app and was on it's way down.
Sorry, this was only a drill

Only an idea:
Maybe a RAMbooster might fix your trouble?
(I'm at work so I haven't actually checked this, will do tonight
Seems to me optimizing memory might clear up some of the clog and speed thing up a bit
Also, shutting down unnecessary apps running in the tray might help a good deal.

Heh!!!!!
My 200 Mhz 32 mb IBM Aptiva runs SPWAW just fine. Scroll speed isn't as fast as i'd like but otherwise evrything's fine. I also have only two 1,2 Gb hard drives so between photoshop 5, windows and SPWAW 5 there ain't much room to maneveur on account of physical memory...
Great work with the v.5

Cyric - you run Photoshop on 32MB of RAM? WOW! Hope you don't have many filters loaded!
