Air squadron remnant not rejoining parent unit

While evacuating the northern PI, I transferred some Catalinas to further south. Damaged planes were left behind, but this is expected.
These damaged planse should return to their parent unit once repaired. This does not happen, there are many cases where the squadrons just sit there instead of rejoining.
The mentioned Catalina unit fragment for example has 1 healthy plane, 1 pilot and still it would not rejoin its parent formation.
Unfortunately this is not an isolated case, all over the map I have fragments and the repaired planes do nothing.
It is very annoying to have to do this manually.

Did you allow one turn to pass so the computer could do it automatically? When you see the fragment out there the computer hasn't recognized it yet until you click the end turn button. It should consolidate during the turn barring any unforeseen problems like airfield damage etc.

Don't think it applies to this case, but just in case. There is also a range limit to this. The sub-unit will not go farther than two "jumps" (two base transfers) trying to rejoin the parent unit according to the manual.

I am having the same problem in my v1.21 PBEM game. Thirty-some days into scenario 15 and I have yet to see a fragment from a transferred unit rejoin its "parent" automatically. In prior games against the AI (pre-ver.1.21) the fragments would move and combine automatically. BTW, the fragments were withing 2 "jumps", in some cases the range was as low as 8 hexes (e.g. relocating Sally's from Indochina to Malaya).

I checked and they did not rejoin even 1 turn later.
The range is one jump only, only about 10 hexes (for Catalina!).

Humm hadn't noticed, but then I manually Move fragments rather then depend on the program to do it.
A question through would be if the first part moved to a base and then to another and the first base moved to was taken over, sortof like an ant following other ants being stopped if the ant trail gets broken [:D]
Antplane.................................................Other Antplane
Antplane......................... ...............Other antplane
In otherwords is it possiable the remants follow the path taken by the first group and if the paths blocked they get lost?
