An update...

Hi!

Some of you may know that I've done some of the pre-beta testing on this game. I've been watching the boards and can see a bunch of people chomping on the bit for an update.

I'm sure you guys understand that games take time to build. Frank has been pretty busy, so I have been hesitant to contact him.

Nevertheless, I emailed him today and here's what he told me in response:

"I can tell you that the graphics are almost done. I'm running with the new map now and it looks really good. I've almost finished the scenarios too. Once that's all done we'll resume testing."

From my point of view, that means a lot of work has been done. Believe you me, I can't wait to get back to testing (it keeps me from making stupid comments on forums when I get bored).

So, sounds like some good news people.. hang in there.

If the graphics are near done then a screen shot should be forthcoming !

Hi!

Indeed. Matrix is supporting the game in various ways, one of which being their artists (who produce some real nice stuff). I wouldn't be surprised if, once Frank has the beta ready for testing, they release some screen shots.

I got an e-mail message from Frank this morning revealing that he's been out of action for a while because of illness in the family, hence his Web site remains down and he hasn't been participating in these forums. If he has any idea how long this situation might continue, he didn't mention it.

since Matrix does not even have a website up for the game I think we have a wait on our hands...

Another e-mail message from Frank today reveals that within a few weeks (a) he expects to have more time available, and (b) "WW1 will be in testing".

Hi!

I think that's quite possible.

Having seen the pre-beta, the game worked pretty well. Lump in the scenarios being finished, as well as the art work, and I think the beta should move pretty briskly. The Naval side needed more work and there was a major problem with "ownership" which made any real evaluation of game balancing and AI performace almost impossible.

Given those problems have been sorted out as well, then the beta will probably move fairly rapidly towards game balancing and twicking the AI.

Roger that. I'm in the same boat with SC2 and AGW. Wait, wait, and wait some more. It's amazing just how long things take. In the end, it's all worth it though. Folks just need to be patient. [;)]
