Before I buy this game, I would prefer to down load it at work (T-1) copy it to a disk and then bring it home, is this possible?

Yes, should be no problem at all. After you purchase, the download link should be active for 30days (it was when I bought WitP). You can then download the file, burn to a CD-R/RW and install at home.

I think that the installer may still be the original release (I'm sure a Matrix staffer will correct me if I'm wrong), so you may want to make sure you get the 1.20 and 1.21 patches while you're at it. See the main WitP forum for details on the patch downloads.

Hope you enjoy WitP as much as I have, and hopefully see you in the WitP forum. [:)]

Well then, can anyone tell me what is the benefit of the "CD on demand"? Wouldn't the CD one can burn upon downloading serve as a backup? I'm ready to buy, but I'm stumped by that option.

I think some folks like to have an actual CD from the company or they have a slow connection and will load from the CD when it arrives. Me I downloaded it and burned a back up copy.

Nice to have different options.

There is no benefit at all![;)] I have ordered WitP with "on demand CD" thinking that I would get a nice labelled CD and how I was diappointed when I discovered it was only a normal CD;still wondering why I chose this option.[&:]
But once the "game on demand" will be available, I would be happy![:D] I like to get a box for my collection.[8D]

Thanks. Hmm. I use dialup. Maybe I'd better ask how big the download is?

Yikes! Well, that settles that. I'm guessing that would require about three full days to download. And I assume if the connection breaks on the 465th MB I'd have to start all over. I'll get the CD on demand.

Send a email directly to support@matrixgames.com and ask them if the digital download file has been upgraded to contain the 1.20/1.21 patches yet ... no point getting it only to find out you have a hefty download anyways.

It took me 26 hours with a 56k modem (and nobody needs to tell me to get DSL or whatever, it just ain't available here in the sticks). My ISP's server kicks you off after eight hours, so I had to pick it up three times. IE is unreliable. I used a download manager (GetRight, demo version free on Internet) and everything went just fine.

The first big patch (1.20?) took me six hours. Again, with GetRight, no problem). I think Frag is right, double-check to be sure the game download has been patched to v. 1.21 to avoid this.

Anyone know (or have an educated guess) on how big v. 1.30 is going to be? Will it be comprehensive (that is, including all previous patches) or stand-alone?
