A few days ago start again the WITP with the new 1.21 versión.
In the first turn the japanese attack over PH was...a total failure!
The result is very very curious, only heavy damage over a MSW!!!

In another PBeM I'm playing the KB stayed 4-5 days bombing PH. Half the time no raid was launched on PH for no reason and I have managed to sink a single PT boat in port. I've sunk a lot of ships outside the port, but only 1 PT boat inside.

My worst PH I did not hit a single ship.[X(]

But since I went to Manila instead, it more than compensated for it.

I wish I has saved the AAR but I was playing the AI and I was the allies and I had 2 of my battleships explode with magazine hits on the first attack. Pennsylvania and Arizona!

the game's pearl harbor results usually seem considerably weaker than the real attack, even when you take into account that several of the historically "sunk" ships were later raised and therefore not sunk in game terms. I've been debating on mentioning this in the wish list, but I imagine the programers have bigger fish to fry than this minor problem.

and, is it me, or does the poor New Orleans always get hammered on Dec 7? Maybe not sunk, but it always seems to take a bullet for the team.

Ben Afleck and Co must have got off the ground early in that one.[8D] Gawd that was a Baaaaaaaaad movie. Too much ckick content and all those computer generated graphics were marred by 1970's style effects using Spruance, Knox, Perry, Leahy class ships waitng for disposal. Oh, yeah, too much Afleck and Baldwin.[;)]

Hi, I sank 4 BB my last PH and damaged quite a few other ships.

I've bombed PH for the last 4 days and had plenty of hits, but those BBs can take a hell of a lot of punishment. Maryland, Penn and Tennesse have each taken about 10 800kg APs, 5 Torps and countless 250kg hits but are still there! I've bombed his repair yards (not sure if this has much of an effect). I know BBs are tough but from running tests they seem to repair so fast in size 10 ports than it takes a magazine explosion to sink them.
I haven't played any game longer than a few months so can anybody tell me a rough estimate for how long it takes to repair a 90 sys damage BB. I know it depends on several variables but are we talking about 3 months or 1 year?

You might as well just bring the KB into Pearl Harbour as im going to charge you rent in the loitering about your doing about the Islands on vacation[:D]
Re sys damage i think it will take upwards of a year to fix a BB that highly damaged maybe more, obviously depends if you can move them to a better shipyard once they can move under steam.

But Tokyo is so cold and wet at this time of year! Why would we want to leave PH so soon?
If you could send over a few Hula dancers for the trip home I might be able to convince the men to stop bombing you! [:D]

Best I ever got was *all* BB's in 2 days of strikes ... makes you almost want to stay the extra day. [:D]

NOT EVEN CLOSE to the worst PH result. I had one where the weather
turned bad in the Hawaiian Islands on 12/7/41 and only 6 zeros made
an attack at all..., and three of them were shot down! As the Allies, I
was exstatic for about 10 minutes..., then re-started so the game wouldn't
prove too lop-sided. I guess I should have saved the start just to show
folks how bad it COULD get..., but I didn't think of it at the time and haven't
seen anything close since.

Sometimes running away on turn 1 is the best tactic, discretion being the better part of valour sort of thing.
Anyway, any CV or CA/Cl losses will be regenerated for the Allies (granted after a considerable time delay), so BBs and DDs are the real targets at Pearl.

Thats actually a problem Mike, the weather is hard coded for the first turn because of the obvious implications. Remember the options you were running with?

Yes Yorktown appeared on the ship reinforcement list the next day...due in 438 days [:D]

Sorry Frag, I don't have a clue. It was one of my first few starts and I was sort of trying
the variables at random to see what the differences might be. Obviously it was pretty
variable---but I remember thinking at the time it WAS realistic. The Japanese had their
whole war plan triggered to go at that time (including the Declaration that was delivered
late), and if the weather had turned out lousy in Hawaii that day they WERE hosed.
