I can't help chuckling every time I see the SS Brown Ranger appear on screen, that's one ship I'm sure nobody wanted to serve on.
On the other side of the coin who wouldn't want to serve on HMS Valiant or Warspite?

All those ships (22 of them IIRC) called Andrea Luckenbach etc. I make whole convoys consisting only of Luckenbachs[;)]

I imagine a submarine named Flasher must have a crew wearing trench coats. [:D]

I was always bewildered with the Japanese carrier
Kaga, as in my native language it literally means "to poop"...
In fact, it is a bit grossier variation; I would never be able to tell that ship's name in my father's house..

Indeed, and if I manage to sink Sonny's current CV Enterprise, I think I'll see a third [:D]

let's see, there was a black prince that was an ironclad steamer, sister ship of warrior (1862-1923), a ww1 armored cruiser (1906-1916) and a bellona (or modified dido) class anti-aircraft cruiser. you may recognize the name diadem, another member of the class. i think this class was represented in HMS Ulysses by allistar macclean. don't think any served in the pacific during the war but black prince was transferred to new zealand in 1948.
what do you want on the banner?

As I understand it there was a sub named Goldfish. Flasher at least has some flash. [:'(]

I dont know why i just like the twin carriers Shokaku and Zuikaku. They were the 2 carriers that always served together, and lasted the longest without being sunk by the americans. (If i remember correctly they were the 2 carriers left after midway) . Plus the names sound cool.

I must agree, I have always had a soft spot for those two myself. Even in UV playing as the Allies, I would feel like shedding a tear when I sank or badly damaged one of them.

OK, here comes my admission of trekkie geekness. Lexington, Exeter, Kongo, Constellation, Constitution, Intrepid, Potempkin...darn, what was the ship which the Enterprise's experimental computer nearly destroyed in that one episode?[&:][;)]

Names may sound cool but how tough can you be in ships whose names translate to "Laughing crane and Happy crane"?

Geek to geek: I think it was the intrepid and the potamkin was destroyed. Nothing like hearing Checkov pronounce Potamkin.
