peculiar unit behavior in Lemur's scenario

The 51st Aviation Regiment, which was in a transport convoy with the 51st Base Force, disappeared once the the task force got to Pago Pago.

I don't know if this is a bug in the system or a peculiarity in the scenario. So I thought I would report it here first. I'm playing with the latest patch and no user mods.

The first time through the scenario, a small fraction (CINC) of SOPAC jumped ship in Frisco, rendering the unit a rather large collection of tail under a Colonel without any command radius. The Admiral kept promising to show up, but he never did, which is why I restarted the game.

It was also in that game that some of the US plane groups and squadrons metastasized as they were being moved around. I haven't seen that this time around though I'm moving the same forces to the same places at more or less the same times, and in the same ways.

I haven't decided if I'm going to continue without that base force or not. It would be handy to have now, but I know I'll have them coming out my smoke stack by 1943.

I read elsewhere that there is a bug with the B-17's bombing accuracy from 35,000 feet. That might explain the havoc I'm wreaking on Rangoon and Rabaul.

I get the PI B-17's at Port Moresby by mid February, with the squadron suppressing the air base and the group working over the port; and it really puts a crimp in IJ's dreams of isolating Australia.

I remember that Gary did a flock of patches for PacWar. Maybe I should put this on the shelf for a while and start paying attention to important things like my family and pennant races.

The unit dissapearing is a bug. I have had it in both 1 Lemurs' and a stock Scen 15. That is in one game of each type. I got 2 games of each going at the moment. Only happened in 1 of each. So it is not just with Lemurs' scenario. It is in the main code somewhere.

The B17 bug is a carry over from BTR. May be a different system, but GG uses alot of the same code.

I lost the 6th Base Force at Tarawa after they had been completely unloaded for 2 days. Happened in both games. I have noticed in one of the games that the 16th Army HQ has also vanished. Damn bugs.

thanks for the reply. I guess I'll just have to struggle along without that unit.

What does BTR stand for?

I hope they fix the B-17 soon, because I almost feel sorry for IJ. They can't do much if they can't develope Rabaul for level bombers.

Sorry, BTR stands for GG's Bombing the Reich.

I also hope he quashes the B17 bug, took many years to kill that sucker in BTR.

My understanding is it affects all bombing results if you are over 30000 feet. What is happening is that the calculation loops into a negative number so it seems like you are hitting underneath the target which makes you extremely damaging.

Hasn't helped my Chinese bombers any. They haven't hit Hanoi in three months of trying.

unless you're a B-17

All the rest of my bombers fly at 5000.

It does seem like there isn't much difference between 5 and 25 bombers for the B-17s unless they are from different units hitting different targets..

My chiness bombers hits more than once in 2 weeks (at 15000 ft,Jan. 1942), trying to rename Hanoi to Holeoi.[:D] Ya, B-17 is kinda different, grrrrrrr [:@]
