WitP Battle Generator

I was wondering ...
Some people might consider it bad form I suppose but I am considering making a Battle Generator (a la SPWaW) for WitP.
The question is, would anyone be interested? Various models for purchasing or selecting units could be implemented. It would be web-based - you generate a "battle" on a web site using forms. The website then makes a scenario file which you can download to play via PBEM.

Not sure what you are talking about? A 10-20 turn single battle scenario?

The number of turns would be one the parameters used to generate the battle.
Basically the idea is to have a map upon which units are then placed to form the scenario start conditions. What those units are can be decided in one of several ways - random, user-"purchased", loaded from "team" file etc. Placing of units and initial base conditions can be decided using the same methods.
The point is, given the data structures you can write a program to automatically create any type of ad-hoc scenario that you want.

I think this would be great for performance tests of various equipment like planes, ships etc..or testing different situations, I'm definitely interested.

You might want to consider the generated battles as training scenarios. Oh, and they might be fun, who knows ...
P.S. It's quite a lot of work (plus my coding skills are very rusty), that's why I'm trying to get some feedback prior to going ahead.

Is a really simple way to do this:
Make an "empty scenario" ie a scenario with all ship classes, LCUs, Air groups etc as in Scen 15 or 16, but with all the units set to arrive at turn 99999 so none are actually in the scenario (actually there are a lot of uses for that scenario. Hint hint. If someone would make it and post it on Spooky's site).
Then all you have to do to have a battle generator is change the location of whatever units you want to see fight to appear on turn 1, all in the same hex. Run the turn and see how these DDs do vs those CAs etc.
Or set them all to appear one to four hexes apart, so you can test them in a night battle or a day battle.
Should get the same effect, no?

Perhaps I should have said Scenario Generator ... There are multiple possible uses, it would basically be a non-interactive version of the supplied Scenario Editor.

Hi,
Does anybody remember a freeware utility called 'PACLINK' by Rich Dionne circa 2001
linked GG's pacwar with Carrier Strike
You could load and run your pacwar battles into carrier strike, fight the battle and then upload the results back into pacwar.
Could also act as a scenario generator by pulling data from pacwar for standalone battles.
Now if matrix want to revive this little gem for WitP they will get my vote!
