Are the Naval forces present and active during this capagine represented at all in the game?

In the individual scenarios Naval forces will not be represented. Naval gunfire support (which was only relevant to the Malta operation) will be abstracted.

Troops in amphibious landings will arrive as reinforcements on the beach rather than out to sea. Losses from coastal artillery will be factored in to their arrival strengths as part of the scenario design.

I can't give any detail on how the sea transport side of the campaign game will be handled as this is still in the design phase.

Hmmm, thinking about it, I notice that HTTR doesn't have anything like off-map artillery. Seems like that's a way to handle Naval gun support. And if you do it that way maybe also have support for say an Army level artillery unit firing in support of an operation.

Of course, if you do Naval gunfire support, do you also do Coastal defense guns or other artillery emplaced with the purpose of being able to fire back at ships?

Off-map artillery is a major feature and is slated to occur in a later game. We aren't planning to put it in COTA, however.

This is why we will be abstracting any NGS in COTA [:)]. Dave can probably give you more information about the sort of design decisions that this involves.
