Okay,
Version 4.0 is sent to Spooky.
This has fixed to an extent the British carrier groups, adjusted armour values on most destroyers, adjusted fuel/range for most ships.
Adjusted a few more aircraft.
Added a few more Japanese ships.
New readme file included.
enjoy!
Mike

Thanks Lemurs! ! This is a stonking effort especially considering the pain of using the editor. What version will be considered the final perfected one though? I'm guessing about 20.0 ...
P.S. Have you considered bumping up the Jap sub crews exp a bit to alleviate the ASW insta-death thing?

Um, actually, i did bump up some Japanese sub crews exp a bit. For the most part crews that actually are known to have sunk allied ships. ah, have to add that to the readme. grumble.
In many ways this is almost as perfect as it is going to get. I will probably add a few more Japanese ships to the construction pool as i am a big fan of options. I will probably dive in and go through the American squadron/group list as i know there are some mistakes in there, but some of that is for play balance.
The game does not model air group withdrawl so we can't just add every group that was ever in the Pacific.
I may add Japanese landing ships and their LSD but i want to talk with Subchaser and Matrix about those first.
There is much work i would like to do to Japanese production, training groups etc, but without a change to upgrades i cannot do this.
Thanks,
Mike

Can I overwrite an old version and keep on playing without screwing things up and still take advantage of the new stuff?
Thanks for a great scenario.

No, there are no EXE file changes in this, just database, so if you did not start over you would not get the benefits.

I have a question. It seems the Americans canceled a LOT of destroyer and such Ships cause they simply werent needed in the numbers planned. If the Japanese is given un restricted submarine warfare, meaning he goes heavily after american merchants, wouldnt the USA have build more escort type vessels, not cancelled them?

I don't think so, mainly because if you look at the US late in the war, you'll have more tin cans than you know what to do with. First day I got the game and loaded up the '45 campaign I think it was, you have 200+ unassigned DDs, and 303 unassigned DEs. You aren't going to need more than that. At 5 ships per hunter/killer group, that comes out to 100.8 dedicated ASW TFs. that should be more than plenty.

Thank you TankerAce, that is how i feel.
I do not feel i am a fanboy from either side, and i love history with a passion.
I think that making a game that both sides can enjoy is slightly more important than pure history. This does not mean i am going to add ray guns or even jets to Japan.
It just means i might give Japan a bit of choice over what ships and occasionaly aircraft Japan gets to play with.
I have had emails from allied fanboys saying that if Japan gets options so should the allies.
My answer to that is America gets all of the options. You don't get one or the other ship; you get them all.

I am still trying to find all the units you moved around. Have not even gotten around to looking at what ships you added.
Alot of my notes from 3.1 are null and void now.[:-]
Overall though, I think this is the best version so far.

well, i think (and i am far away from an allied fanboy [:D]) that the americans should be able to replace any freighter they loose in the war... they could have withdrawn em from the ETO... so i can´t see any lack of transport capacity from july 1944 on...
if the game would allow a withdrawing from ships in march-june 44 to simulate the concentrating onto the landing at d-day, this would be fantastic...also, there should be an option that if the allies work bad in the pacific they get a lot ships more as historically after august/september 44... this could bring in some what-if for the americans, if they had lost a lot ships in the time before cause the japanese player was better as historically... otherwise i think the possibilites of the allies to outproduce anything the japanese can bring in is not shown as it should be...
the allies allways lived after the "why use 100 planes if we can send 1000"-method.
But, i will try the new version and will love the improvements...[:)]

I'm confused. I downloaded v4.0 and installed the 11 extracted files in the SCEN folder. I could not find the A_planeside or J_planeside files that were supposed to go into the ART folder according to the install instructions in the readme file. Where are they? Do I need them?
Also, will v4.0 be compatible with the 3.0 patch that is coming out soon?
I just discovered your site and greatly appreciate what you've done.

I'm using the art from 3.0. Seems to be working so far. Are they the same as 4.0?

Hey,Mike. I'm currently enjoying 3.1 with Dave2ndACR. How about adding a few more things.
Ships. The is a list of missing ships somewhere in an OOB thread. They include missing RN AS tenders, River class frigates for RAN, some Indian corvettes, USN CG cutters etc.
Ever think about adding the historical ships which are missing because of the spawning issue? CVs, CAs, CLs, DDs, and SSs are all affected by this. Give them original or hypothetical namesand have spawned ships sit idle in port as a house rule.
Cheers,
Ron
Be really cool if you could get Justin Prince (Tankerace) to add his ship art to your scenario as well.
Are you goingto get Andrey's (Subchaser) plane art in as well? Noticed the P 40B isnot the Flying Tiger one he uses.
