When an airgroup upgrades to a new aircraft type, it takes around a week - depending on size - before the group is fully operational again.

I feel that group efficiency should be reduced substantially for at least a full month before the group is considered to have completed 'conversion training' and becomes 100% efficient again.

What does the rest of you think?

Hmm, the Idea sounds good but i would not used a fix value. Upgrading from A6M2 Zero's to A6M3 should only result in a 1 week conversion training period. If you switch over to a complete new model for example KI-21 II to KI 49 (different Engines thus different flight abilitys) i find a 1 Month duration ok.

I think this was discussed once before (possibly on UV forum) and the idea shot down. Basically it's all but impossible to simulate groups of pilots rotating back to the states or Japan for training on the new airframes as was done historically in preparation for the upgrades. Pilots didn't train in theatre for the most part (of course there were some that did, but most didn't) and were pretty well familiar with their new aircraft when they arrived. At least I think that's the jist of what was said before.

Not a bad idea, but consider the fact that it generally takes a week or so to rebuild the unit anyways (since all upgrade aircraft come in as damaged).

past wargames usually simplify such conversions by imposing an overall EXP point penalty. Recent wargames specified this more. (i.e. changing from one varient of the same airframe to another only made for a very small drop. Changing from one type of airframe to another was a much bigger one)
