Nomonhon East Asia: 1500 Hours 10/2/39

We have been ordered to keep after the Russians while we have them on the run. Since our assault pushed them back we are to keep them going backwards. We are still having a sandstorm. Must be some thing with this area i suppose. We still have good sight tho about 1200 yards. I believe the fury of the storm is letting up some.

Our front is spread out over 1600 yards wide. The north company is commanded by 2nd Lt Ogata. Not as hardened as the other companys leaders but still very capable. They are about 250 yards from the VH on top of a hill. They are to reach and hold this hill on the right flank of center.

The south flank is led by 2nd Lt. Suzuki. A battle scared vet of our assault last month. He is about 500 yards from a hill that overlooks the south VH.
To his NW is another hill with VH that the center is to take. Once he has taken his objectives, he is to set defences up on the hill. Then he is to move NW towards the center and hit the enemy on his right flank.

The center is run by another very capable leader. His name and rank are 2nd Lt. Kawaguchi a battle togh veteran as well. He is to proceed west to the hill. Take the VH on top then set up defences and wait for the enemy there.

The Gaps between the companys lines are filled in by squads of engineers with support of flame tanks. I have a battery of 150s and 105s as support.

It is now a race to the objectves between us and the Russians. I believe we will be victorius once again. We learnt a lot from our first clash with the Russians last month.

The south flank has reached the top of the hill. They have come under fire from at least 10 tanks. Thet have about 200 yards to go to there VH which is down the other side. I have to get them down the other side and bring up my artty on top of the hill.

The north has taken there VHs and attemptong to set up some kind of defense line. They too are under heavy attack from at least 10 to 15 tanks.

The center has reached the east slope of there hill. And are trying to take the top of the hill. They have already repulsed an attack by at least 7 tanks. Thery have destroyed five BT5 and two T35 Tanks. Out in front of them about 500 yards is another group of tanks coming there way. Another 10 minutes and they would have been in position before the Russians had reached them.

Our losses have been slight so far. One recon and a few men from the center. We may have not seen any tanks in our battle last month but they managed to round them up this time. They must have been really poed from that battle. I think they have brought every tank in Russia with them. Now we will see how our knee mortar squads handle these giants. The turn in the battle im sure will come once we get our IG and AT guns on top of the hills.

We are moving towards the rear objective slowly. The rear VHs are about 1000 yards away yet. There is still a lot of tanks out there. I know we have taken out at least 50 tanks so far. They just keep comin from the rear of there lines. We are starting to run into some infantry. Our men are still high in spirits and up for the task.

We have lost around 60 men so far may even be less then that. We also have lost about 5 tanks including couple armored recon cars. The ATG and IGs are in place and doin a heck of a job on there armor. I also like the 20MM AA guns for there fast fire and extra shots they have. They alone have accounted for at least 7 tanks.

My mortars have run out of ammo but the MTN. guns are still active. I only have one 105 that has any ammo left to fire. The first 45 minutes of the fight was fast and deadly. Thats when we got most of there tanks and they got ours. I believe we have broken there back as there is not as much activity any more. I still see at least 15 tanks in sight of our lines. They are not ready to give up as yet but we are moving them back slowly. The 50MM knee mortar is an excellent weapon in close quarter fighting with the tanks.

PS: I wish i had taken some ATR and Tank Hunters with my support points. Especially with the way the Russians love to load up with tanks.

We have begun our push towards the rear objective. All forward VH are taken and are secure. We continue to run into a lot of tanks of all kinds. A lot of t-18s are showing up. These are not easy to take out with 37MM guns. Although our IG guns are doing well against them. The 20MM AA Platforms are also scoring some kills.

We seem to have pertty well defeated there tank force. There are an awful lot of burned out tanks laying around us. We have begun to run into a large infantry force now. Several companies of them it seems. They are coming at us in human waves. If this keeps up ammo supply will be a major factor in this battle. Our heavy MGs are doing a great job on the infantry. The only problem is keeping them up with the fluid front line.

Dont know exactly how far the rear VH is from our front line but believe it is with in 800 yards or so. We should take it in this battle. Not like the last one we fought against the Russians. We got a draw in that one. Am hoping for marginal in this one at least. I have lost some tanks about 6 i think plus a few armored recon cars. Also think i lost a flame tank. Really dont know as yet as i cant seem to find it anywhere. I lose some of my units some time. They just seem to get lost on me. When i do find them they are way behind the other troops. Have had several become immobilized from damage.

All in all we are moving well even tho that may be only 50 yards at a time. Have lost at least 200 men as well. But morale is still high and spirits are up.

We whipped them and we whipped them bad!!!! [:D][:D] A decisive Victory is ours And for the Emperor a glorius Victory. Banzai Banzai Banzai

We were hurt some but no where near like our last battle against the Russians. Results as follows our losses then theres.

Men xxx147xxxxx1748
Artt xxxxx0xxxxxxx 6
AFV xxxxx 7xxxxx 137

They lost BT7-T34-T27-T18 tanks and the artillery was made up of 50MM mortars.

We have been ordered to refit and get replacments. Then we have been told to start building our emplacements for a defense against there counter attack. We have got some of the newer Chi Ha tanks as replacements for the ones we lost. Also upgraded a few of the mortars to 150 MM. Have put the fos into vehicles for better mobility.

It is now November of 1939 and we have been fighting for over two Months. I hope this war ends soon so we can all go home and see our loved ones again.
