Hi
How can I edit the pilots experience of the following years. I´m able to change the experience and the number of pilot replacement, but what´s about the following years? E.g. I´m changing the experience of Jap pilots in campaign 13 starting in ´42 to 80, what experience do they have in ´43. Isn´t it possible to change the exp and replacement rate of every year?

It's hard coded in the EXE so you can't change it using the database/scenario editors

...which was a poor decision, IMHO.
But of course, not one that was mine to make [:)]

But why can I then change it in the editor? I don´t know if the change of the experience level works, but the replacement rate does!

You can change the REPLACEMENT POOL experience but not the DEFAULT EXPERIENCE FOR EACH YEAR. It is the latter which is hard-coded and is used to determine the experience level of reinforcement air groups. Of course you could always edit each reinforcement group manually ...

Yes, the exp for replacement pilots after 1941 is hardcoded (stupid) but how exactly? Is the number hard coded or is the difference from one year to the next year hard coded? For example, if I change 1941 exp to 90 will 1942 be 85 or will it be the same as if I had never changed the 1941 exp in the first place?

There are two issues with pilots. One is replacement pilots (coming into units that are already in the game and short of pilots). These use the replacement pool numbers, and their experience remains the same for the entire war (whatever you enter into the editor, so in the case above they would be 90 for the entire war). The other are new pilots coming into units that are reinforcements. These come in at hard coded values by nationality by year. However, these can be overriddent by giving the airgroup a specific experience. If it has an experience, this will override the generic nationality/time number normally used to gauge average pilot experience for these units when they are formed. Also, historical pilots can be entered into the database to arrive with paricular units, and these pilots can be given specific experience ratings.

So would my Jap pilots from the pool in eg ´44 at the same high level like in ´42 but the reinforcement groups at the low level???? If I change the experience to 80 I would have pilots in the pool with nearly double the experience then my reinforcements in ´45. Seems to me a bit weird! Just wait until your original pilots of a group are shot down - no matter - you get elite pilots from your pool!

Yes, you get them at the high level. Of course, using the numbers we give the Japanese, they will get very few of these. Most will come in at 1/2 of this experience. Yes, it's a mixture of methods that's far from perfect, but you can have an effect by changing the number and experience of replacement pilots or reinforcment airgroups.

m'kay. I was using search to find an answer to a question. Found what I needed, but it doesn't sound right.

I thought it was the other way around. I thought the replacements were hardcoded, but we could alter the experience level of the reinforcements. It does seem kinda odd to have a unit come to the front with lvl 15 pilots and get lvl 75 replacements (37.5 when halved) when they're shot down. It would certainly make more sense in the reverse.
