Nomonhon East Asia; 0500 Hours 11/20/39

Our defences have been prepaired and we are ready for the Russians. Im sure if we whip them again the war will be over. Visability is about 400 yards due to the days being shorter this time of year. The weather is clear tho a beautiful day.

The first company is in our south in front of a long hill which runs NE from there about 800 yards. It has a long spine leading up to the summit. Behind this hill is the southern VH about 200 yards from map edge.

Another hill runs 500 yards NW abiut 200 yards north of first hill. At the northern tip of this hill is the center VH with a road running west to east thru them. In the front of this hill i have set up three IG bunkers and two sections of ATR. Out in front of them about 400 yards i have placed three sections of Engineers.

North of this second hill about 400 yards is another small hill where the north VH are. The rest of the map to the north map edge is rather open except for a few small hills. In front of this hill about 400 yds i have placed another company. These are located on the plains and in amongst some low hills.

South of the bunkers about 300 yards is my center company. And to the north of the bunkers about 200 yards is 4 sections of meduim tanks.

This is a large map with a lot of ground to cover. I have two batteries of 150 to help with the battle.

At 0500 the Russians opened up with a tremendous barrage of 122 off board artty. No reports on any damage or casualties yet. A lot of suppresion tho. We are hunkered down and waiting eagerly for them to appear out of the darkness.

Nomonhon East Asia: 0550 Hours 11/20/39

A massive tank assault began on our lines at 0520 Hours. The main assault was on the center along the road to the VHs. At least 20 tanks hit this portion of the line. They ran into our outer line made up of three plattoons of engineers and 3 flame tanks. Although our troops put up a valient defense they were pushed back by sheer weight of numbers. Soon they were under the guns of our IG bunkers and ATR. They tore into the ranks of the tanks with a vengenance. After 10 minutes of very hard fighting on both sides the burnt out hulks laid strewn across the battle field.

The north and south flanks were hit at this same time. Although there were less in numbers it too was a savage fight. At least 7 tanks were destroyed in the south and maybe the same in the north. They were backed up by engineers and infantry on both flanks. At least 10 plattoons were wiped out on both flanks. The enemy suffered a lot of casualties on all there fronts.

Our mortar fire and heavy 150 cut the enemy to pieces before they reached our lines. Although quite a few of the enemy got thru our mine fields they were cut down immediatly.

This was a short battle not lasting more then 40 minutes. But the intensity was terrific. The guns were not quite the whole time. They kept the pressure on us at all times. We got another decisive victory. Thats two in a row makes up for the draw in the first battle. The emperor will be pleased again and maybe show us favor.

Our losses were slight. We lost 25 men and 1 AFV. While the toll on the enemy was staggering for such a short battle. They lost 490 men and 78 AFV.

We will refit and upgrade and persue them to Moscow if nessesary. After a short rest and relaxation we are to advance and wipe them out once and for all. We should be ready to start our push next month.
