i loaded to video cfg after going to the starshatter doenload now it says canot set video resolution to (1024 x 768 x 32 ) this demo will terminate it said the same thing on 800 x 600 x 32 is it 32 bit ? how can i set my resolution to 32 bit ? is that the problem

Well, you dont need to have your desktop set to your SS video settings. It might help, but it's not supposed to be required.

Right-click on your desktop and choose 'properties' from the drop-down menu. Then click on the 'settings' tab and then there is a horizontal slider to set the resolution (IE 800x600 or 1024x768) and to the right of that there is a drop-down menu for 'color quality.' Select your desired color depth from that menu (depending on OS/vid card etc there might be varying options. I can select 16 or 32, but I think in Win98 its 16 or 24 bit, i cant remember exactly.)
