bombarding TF's

I have an issue that I really think needs addressing in the future. When I setup a bombardment TF to attack say Guam my TF always gets the stuffing kicked out of it by a supposed group of hundreds of Japanese guns. For example my battleship Maryland got multiple hits with a damage rating of 35 and subsequently had to go back to San Francisco for repairs putting it out of play for a long time. I submit that damage to landing AP's and AK's is one thing but damage to bombarding warships is quite another. I believe that historically bombarding warships in the Pacific War rarely, if ever, received any hits from shore batteries-Kamikaze's yes and I really do think that this should be addressed in the future. What do some of you think?

Do you have DDs in your bomabarment group - as the task force will move in so their [DD] guns can be used - try taking them out

The next patch has an option that allows the player to chose to let the DDs bombard or not. If you chose not to let them, then the TF stands off futher and taks less damage.
