Western Front Koivisto: 2000 Hours 1/27/40
We have been ordered back to the front lines. The Finns still have some life in them. I dont think my men relish the thought of having to root them out again. Our orders are to find and destroy any and all of the enemy we can.
Our advance will be hampered some what by visability and the heavy woods again. Vis is about 400 yards even tho the weather is clear. There is three hills to the front of us. The south VH sits about 100 yards in front of the first hill. The center VH is again on the east slope of the second hill. The third Vh is about 100 yards behind the north hill. Each hill runs about 600 yards long with about 150 yards between each one.
Behind the south hill about 50 yards a small river starts. This runs NE from map edge to map edge. The north part of the river is about 1200 yards behind the north hill. The rear VH sits almost dead center of the map behind this river. Directly north of the VH a swamp area runs along side of this river for about 2000 yards. About 150 yards south of map edge in this swamp is a corridor about 100 yards wide.
I believe i can cross this dry area thru the swamp and get around to the rear of the Finns. I have placed 2 plattoons of infantry on the north map edge. They will have in support 3 sections of T-28s and 1 section of KV1. There prime purpose in life is to exploit this break in the swamp. Move to the rear VH capture it then move west to the rear of the enemy in the center.
I have placed 2 companies in the woods to the west of the center and southern hills. There main purpose is to hold the enemy from advancing to the our rear. They are to hold off on capturing any VH until our boys in the north have accomplished there mission.
I have placed 3 plattoons of engineers back some from the north hill in an ambush set up. They must hold here are we will be lost. Just hope not too many of the enemy discover we are weakest there. I have givin them the scouts and all the armored cars i have left over.
Once the enemy has begun to congregate on the center hill all hell will open up on them. My 82MM, 107MM mortars, 76.2s and 203 off board are sighted in on this hill. It is a daring plan i know it all depends on my strike force in the north. I trust them with my life they are all good men.
