Windowed Mode?

Is there a windowed mode (don't care if supported officially or not) that the game can run in?

Unfortunately there is no windowed mode. Early in development, we tried to have a playable windowed mode. However so many DirectX oddities appear when running it in a window, we couldn't justify putting into the end product.

Ok, I understand ... Does it handle Alt-Tabbing instead?

Yes! As a matter of fact, I went to a lot of trouble to make sure that Alt-Tab works.

Wow, nice job. After playing for a while I'm not sure I've gotten quite that good a result in Thebes. Most impressive, grasshopper.

Bagged Memnon. That is a great accomplishment as he usually rips up my forces.

Took a while to figure that one out ...

There was this 1 unit in the center that really hurt me something fierce. He ate my poor cav up the center but the damage was already done and I had the flag. Think I need to understand what his bonus was as until I finally got around him and there was no facing that was safe, he slaughtered non-stop. He caused over 50% of my losses.

Bah, this game is though ! [&o]
I don"t even succeed winning the 2nd battle (Granicus IIRC, the one vs Memnon). Whatever falnking maneuver I try my cav get swamped vs hosts of Persians, and the phalanx has trouble crossing the river against Memnon & al - particularly the Persians archers are nasty and slaughter the lightly armored troops (and even the medium-armor troops aren't safe at all) ! [X(]
It ended twice as a minor defeat, with most of both armies killed but no control of the field by Alexander... [:(]
Does someone have a tip for a baffled armchair loser general ? [:D]

Don't cross the river in the centre at first. Try to use your flanking troops to draw off some units before you go across. Also try to get your archers/slingers into play to do some damage before engaging.

Yes, tried that on the second try, but to no avail, as I said my cav flanked, had some success initially, but then get swamped and killed. As for the bowmen/slingers mine sucked big time (poorly trained, fire from low ground...) and only became fodder for the Persians archers.
