In section 4.2 "Unit Attributes" at the bottom of page 31 under "Weapons":

Q1. The rule states that: "A missile unit cannot initiate a melee attack but will defend against a missile attack with a severe 'melee weapon' penalty. Should this read "will defend against a melee attack"?

Q2. The rule states that: "However, horse archers were not meant for melee attacks and will attack with the 'bow' weapon penalty. Does this mean they use the -2 "Missile Weapon" modifier in Table 1?

Very well laid out rule book. Very nice prolific inclusion of historical commentry and items of interest. May I recommend a separate printable version of Tables 1 and 2 if possible for any planned patch?

Thanks,
Adam.

Yes, you are correct. It is basically letting you know that archer units will get a retaliation when melee attacked -- but it is usually very weak. I will note that we need to made this change to the manual.

Yes. The big advantage horse archers give you is that they are fast (i.e., can move forward 3 spaces when moving straight ahead), and they can often get of a decent melee attach with bonuses. But, like other missile units, they will quickly fall if you try to engage the enemy directly.
