Ground combat at Kuala Lumpur

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 43345 troops, 516 guns, 103 vehicles

Defending force 11400 troops, 61 guns, 5 vehicles

Japanese assault odds: 13 to 1 (fort level 2)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Kuala Lumpur base !!!

Japanese ground losses:
518 casualties reported
Guns lost 9

Allied ground losses:
18148 casualties reported
Guns lost 100
Vehicles lost 1

DOH! Man... I had hoped they would hold out a little longer, and that they'd retreat! lol, don't those fools realize what the japanese pow camps are like! Retreat to singapore you fools!

Ok, as a noob here, does anyone know why my forces surrendered like that instead of retreating? Most of my other base losses had the forces involved retreating afterward, except when no retreat was possible (hong kong). Malacca was defended by dug in fresh troops who could have covered the retreat, they're connected by rail.

And after losing such a large chunk of the malasian force is singapore going to fall early do you think? Should I try to hold Johore Bahru or just pull everything back to singapore?

You playing against the AI or a human? Makes a big difference.

Against the AI, I would stand and fight it out. The AI has a habit of not using overwhelming force.

Against a human, I would run for Singapore and start digging in as fast as possible.

But either way, expect to not be able to hold Singapore for long. I took Singapore against a human 1 day earlier than history, but I also threw almost 5 divisions at it.

Against the AI. I don't feel confident enough of my skills to risk humiliation at the hands of a player [;)]. I'd probably lose the war and san francisco would end up getting nuked instead of hiroshima [:-]

I just wish I knew why the forces in kuala lumpur surrendered instead of retreating [&:]. It's such a waste, and it takes a huge bite out of my malasian force when I expected to be able to retreat them to singapore for weeks (or maby even months) or R n R before being called upon to defend singapore itself.

Ah well, live and learn.
