What happenned with Model and Manstein?

Hi all, this is my 1st post [:)]
Years ago a played WIR very often and it was always my all time favorit. Now I downloaded WIR 3.3. and tried the 41`Campaign again. I saw a lot of people performed a very good job and WIR 3.3. is a better game than ever. Many thanks folks.[:)]
OK, I started a new game and was very surprised, that I was not able to assign Model and Manstein in the first turn (as I alwas have done in the original game of G.Grigsby) but I thought this is not real a problem, this is the price for historical accuracy ( because they got their jobs as army commander later: Manstein the 11th army on 9/13/41, Model the 9th army on 1/16/42). OK it was a little bit harder with the new rules, but I managed to take Moscow before raining season. After that I stopped advancing and waited for both generals till january, but they never come. (Sure I also waited for Russian counter-attack in the blizzard - turns)
Now my question what`s the matter with that generals? Have somebody infos for me? I studied the readme file and have not found anything.
BTW. I think the blizzard turns are not very historical accurate or is it believable that Russians can perform that huge air strikes (with their bad equipment), or that a whole Panzer Korps with 2 well supplied (rail hex-no damage) pz divs + 1 mot div at entrench-level 3 is shattered by the first assault with an 500: 1 odd? [:D]
Ok thanks in advance for answers.

manstein is on a turn delay of 12, and model on delay 34. i'v always wondered how the new generals come in - my guess is the game has to 'sack' one of the other generals to make room for a new one.

as for the blizzards, it is very well documented that unless a german unit is at 100% readiness when it is defending in blizzard it will unfortunatly very likely shatter. the exact same thing goes for soviet units in the summer '41 - yes, it is very unforgiving! if you look at the Great patriotic war (possum one) post near the end, m39 white death enlightens us with a great way for germany to beat the blizzards! keep in mind this shatter thing for both sides is only applicable during the first year in the game.

Flanker Leader thanks for your answer.[:)]
But it was january 42 (turn 30 or so) and no Manstein or Model (in September Reichenau died in combat >>"room" for Manstein).
For shattering in blizzard turns: its ok (for game reasons) that after odds more than 100:1 a unit will be shattered, but not historical accurate that russian airforce can perform such huge airstrikes in such bad weather and that 1 well supplied entrechend panzerkorps is beaten by 500:1!!! This NEVER happend in the original WIR-game. (This is also not very historical accurate; sure the weak German Forces had to retreat in winter 41/42, but my korps stayed in the same rail-hex for weeks and was full equiped and supplied at lever 6.)
The readme 3.3 said that blizzard turn results are not so harmfull as before and units are not so often likely to shatter. Thanks god I have not played 3.2.[;)]

in 3.2 blizzards it is the exact opposite - units shatter if the readiness is too high! so you want to keep the readiness lower to prevent shattering (which is, of course, easier!). if you play soviets vs german ai you have to play 3.2, otherwise it's a very easy victory for the soviets!
